On a Facebook post, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar announced that the construction of Mindanao Avenue Extension Segment 2C has resumed after six administrations.
The said project covers the 1.7 kilometer of road improvement in Caloocan and Valenzuela Cities.
“The project which will link North Caloocan to North Luzon Expressway and Quezon City is being fast tracked in line with the Department’s program to decongest traffic,” Villar said.
“We are positive that the whole Mindanao Avenue Extension can be utilized by the general public with the year,” he added.
The said road project was started in the 1980’s but was delayed due to right-of-way issues.
“When completed, the 8-lane Mindanao Avenue Extension will significantly reduce travel time of motorists coming from Caloocan and Quezon City,” he said.
The road 2C costs roughly 118 million, it would also cover drainage, slope protection, and street lighting components for the safety of its daily users.
“The 1.7 kilometer road improvement is the missing gap of a 3.2 km road network. It’s about time we’re able to maximize the entire alignment,” villar added.
