As the People Power 1 approaches, stories about Martial law surfaces left and right.
It is irrefutable that the People Power Revolt became a world-renown occurrence that transpired during 1986. A time where, according to history, majority of the Filipinos were infuriated by the abuses and human rights violations that allegedly happened under the Marcos regime.
The said to be dictatorship of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos and cling to power fueled the Filipinos to overthrow him from presidency, making Cory Aquino take over and be known as the most prominent figure of the 1986 People Power Revolution and the first female president in Asia.
With the strong support from the Armed Forces of the Philippines to Ramos and Enrile who both lead the revolution against Marcos, it's not surprising that such movement would not fail to succeed. Not to mention the rage of the Filipinos that the President Marcos received after the death of the late senator Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino Jr. upon his arrival at the airport.
While most of the Filipinos believe that part of the history, some of the real stories that made the Philippine Martial law phenomenal and controversial remain untold.
But who really took control of the revolution during the people's rebellion against the government? Maricor MC shares her point of view.

In the wake of the 1986 People Power Revolt, I'd like to share some of my musings about the favorite narrative of the yellow camp for three decades -- everyhing about Martial Law and their #NeverAgain slogan, and random thoughts about loyalty.
Okay, here it goes. It was the Philippine Constabulary (PC) that enforced martial law from 1972 to 1981, and Fidel Ramos was its former chief during this era, who, apparently was in control and had the command responsibility over all the dreaded units of the PC, as well as those crimes borne out of the human rights abuses.
FVR had written dozens of books containing his speeches, but NONE about the alleged human rights abuses during this era which he witnessed himself.
Isn't it just right that he speaks out about those alleged crimes perpetrated in the span of nine (9) years the martial law was enforced?
He said he already atoned for it by LEADING the military and the police during the EDSA 1.
How is that?
It's true that there were military officers who joined Ramos and Enrile in February 1986. But, let's face it, many remained loyal to Marcos. With certitude, can Ramos categorically state that at that time Marcos had lost command of the AFP? It is not like the loyalty of the military, in general, was transferred to Cory Aquino. Come on, loyalty is not transferrable. It has to be earned. Anyway, Cory appointed Ramos as the AFP's chief of staff then Defense secretary, so if he had a hold on the AFP at that time, why were there nine (9) coup attempts during Cory’s presidency? Those were serious plots to overthrow her. You have to ponder that never was a president ever so besieged by coup attempts than was Cory Aquino, a proof that she did not have the command of the entire armed forces.
So there.
