Instead of wasting time discussing the death penalty bill in the Senate, Senator Panfilo Lacson recommended Senator Manny Pacquiao not to rush getting voted for the said controversial bill.
During the Kapihan sa Senado, Lacson who is one of the authors of death penalty bill, it is better for Pacquiao to get the pulse of their colleagues first as it is likely to lose in the plenary even if it’s counterpart bill in the Congress was already approved last year.
Lacson said.
He added that based on his informal discussion with other Senators, the proposed measure might not be able to get enough vote in the Senate.
“Instead na mag-tackle kami ng mga bills na alam naming may pag asang makalusot e ita-tackle mo yung bill na alam mong pagdating ng oras ng botohan e matatalo, e sinayang mo din yung time na yun di ba?” he said.
Lacson added.
Senator Pacquiao was assigned by Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III to lead the subcommittee hearing on death penalty bill following the criticism of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez that the Senate has been acting slowly on the proposed measure.
